Let’s Get Your Legs Ready for Beach Season

Let’s Get Your Legs Ready for Beach Season

With warmer weather approaching, you may be itching to put on that cute pair of shorts or brand new short skirt. You’ve grown tired of the winter doldrums, and you’ve even lost a few of those nagging extra pounds so that your legs will be ready for their summer showcase. But are your legs really ready to be shown off? If your legs have superficial veins, more commonly known as spider veins, you might need to make an appointment at Central Florida Vein & Vascular Center, the top practice for spider vein treatment in Orlando.

There are a number of reasons your legs have unsightly superficial and varicose veins, but the underlying cause is venous insufficiency, a condition in which the valves in the vein cease to function properly. When the valves malfunction, the blood flows backward in the vein and pools up to become a superficial or varicose vein, depending on severity and size of the vein.

It’s vitally important to realize that while superficial veins are purely cosmetic, varicose veins are not and may be an indicator of an even more serious medical condition. So, if you have varicose veins, know that, typically, medical insurance covers the cost of treatment.

Treatment Options for Spider Veins and Varicose Veins

Either way, though, you’ll want to get rid of ugly superficial and varicose veins in order to make sure your legs are beach ready and looking good. Fortunately, there are several innovative treatment options available at Central Florida Vein & Vascular Center.

The most common treatment for spider veins is sclerotherapy, which involves injections of a sclerosing agent into the veins to irritates the vessels, which causes them to scar and become less noticeable, sometimes guided by ultrasound equipment to provide pinpoint accuracy. Veinlite-guided sclerotherapy is an innovative type of sclerotherapy in which a transillumination device guides the physician to the source of superficial veins, even if the source is not visible to the naked eye. Both types of sclerotherapy are minimally invasive and produce little, if any, pain.

For more serious varicose veins, the Center offers options such as endovenous laser treatment (EVLT) and ultrasound-guided foam sclerotherapy (UGS), which also are minimally invasive, virtually pain-free, and allow patients to resume normal daily activities almost immediately.

Summertime-Smooth Legs

With the summer months fast approaching, remember that all treatment options still require some recovery time, and so you won’t necessarily be able to have the smooth and pretty legs you want instantly. As such, you’ll definitely want to make sure that you start your treatment regimen as soon as possible. But why put off looking great in shorts anyway?

To get started on the path to smooth, better-looking legs today, contact John D.
